In this article titled “8 Ingredients Used In the US That Are Banned In Other Countries,” Cheyenne Renouard talks about how some common foods are so unhealthy that they have actually been banned in certain countries. It lists off the ingredients and gives reasons why each are banned and their dangerous effects.

These ingredients include artificial food dye, Olestra, brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, azodicarbonamide, BHA, Synthetic growth hormones, and arsenic. If you’re unaware of what some of these ingredients are, a description is given for each in the article.

Most of these listed ingredients are banned in multiple places such as Austrailia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, and other countries in Europe because of how unhealthy they are. They have chemicals that lead to things such as kidney failure, cell deterioration, organ damage, heart diseases, and even cancer. So why do we, as Americans, continue to eat food with these products that are causing this many problems?

Although most of us do not think twice about what are doing to our bodies when we eat things such as mac and cheese, potato chips, or cakes, we need to become more aware of what we are putting into our bodies and educate ourselves about how dangerous certain foods are. The government has obviously not banned any of these ingredients in our country, so we must figure it out for ourselves before we are next in getting one of these life-threatening problems.
